I stumbled upon an online auction for one commemorative coin made of pewter. It was for a football championship, held in Malaysia. For the opening of the Shah Alam Stadium. 6 teams, 2 groups, with the group winners contesting a final.

Comes as a complete surprise to me, I never knew Leeds played here.

The home team, Selangor Selections, were drawn to group A with Bayern Munich (93/94 Bundesliga Champions) and Dundee United (1994 Scottish Cup Winners).

Group B has the Australian Olympic team, Flamengo (cant find anything they won that year) and Leeds (same, no major achievements). Celtic and AC Milan pulled out at the last minute.

FIrst game ever at the new stadium is between the host and Dundee Utd. In goal that day for Selangor was a certain Bruce Grobbelaar. Will McKinlay became the first ever player to score a goal at the new stadium, but the hosts pulled one back and it ended 1-1.

Leeds's first game was a win, against the australians. 2-1, Masinga and a certain David White with a goal each. David White also played for Sheffield United with regards to the post on this saturday's game.

Leeds then lost to Flamengo 2-1. Starters were - Mark Beeney; John Pemberton; Kevin Sharp; Carlton Palmer; David O'Leary; Nigel Worthington; Gordon Strachan; Mark Tinkler; Noel Whelan; Phil Masinga; and Gary McAllister.

Bayern lost to Flamengo in the final, But looking at the team it was probably a reserves + youth squad.
