We rented a dodgy old sherpa minibus from the dark arches at the bottom of Richardshaw lane and it was a pig. Got us to Luton no probs somehow. We'd stocked up on pills and powder which were neatly secreted and taped to various parts of the body where you don't get frisked. I'd emptied a packet of silk cut and refilled with 'erb mix and resealed the packet. Security looked at the packet and said off you trot. We were in.

Plan was to have a few beers in the afternoon and prepare for the evening at tea time ish. Walked into the bash and even though this was about 12:30 people were walking about monged and bing bonged. Fuck it, best laid plans and all that - if you can't beat 'em.

After various djs and artists Faithless came on in their tent at about 11. The tent was utterly mobbed, everybody waiting for this one monster. While I can take or leave a lot of Faithless' stuff this track is a beast. The opening bars struck and the roof came off. Wow. Still hair on the back of my neck standing up as I write this. What a fucking TUNE.

The rest of the night was a blur - Roger Sanchez, Marshall Jefferson and many more ending up with Digweed at about 7 in the morning just for the sheer hell of it.

Police didn't allow anyone to leave until about 12 - I suppose 35000 bing bonged fuckwits on the M1 was not a desired thing. Some cockney twat had hung on to us for protection as he was being chased. Was he bollocks - he was just fucked and paranoid. He tried to get us to give him a lift into Luton. Fuck that. My mate GAz chucked him out and we left him to the wolves.

Heading back up the M1 in some state, we got to just south of Sheffield and the bus packed up. The Fuel gauge had stuck. No juice. So we waited on the embankment for the RAC to bring us a tin. Folk were still smoking and dropping pills and powder. Good job there was no dibble.

Eventually got back safely, shoved the key through the letterbox after parking so close to the front door it was impossible to get in or out. Cunts with their shitty van.
