@Rudi following on from your post I thought I would throw a few bits in regarding your points about amps and pedals.

You've got a nice guitar already by the looks of it. You are way ahead of me on straps.

Like anything else in life but it seems especially for guitars and the associated equipment you can easily get swayed by marketing.

I for one fall regularly for it.

I had two of the 40w fender HRD (Hot Rod Deluxe) and they were great. Reverb on board and an amazing clean sound.

However, as they were affordable second hand I went for them but they were far too powerful for the house. They also have a very fine 'taper' to the volume knob. If you are playing at home you will be setting at lower than 1. Setting it at 1.25 or higher will really piss your neighbours off. There's not much room to get a useable sound at home.

Secondly, the second channel (overdrive) is much maligned - most keep it clean and put a pedal in front instead.

Its very, very loud. However, if you are thinking ahead for gigs then fair enough.

That said its the best selling amp of all time (I think). These guys have a great channel (it will want to make you spend lots of cash) and they do great considered videos. You might want to watch this as it's specifically about the amps you are looking:

Pedals is an absolute black hole where everyone's opinion seems to matter.

The Soul Food is a modern classic. It's Klon (look it up) Klone. So a circuit copy of one of the most famous pedals ever. Boost / overdrive basically. The Canyons is a delay pedal and very well respected.

EHX are great as they are affordable. But before you buy anything - whats the sound you are going for?

An overdrive and delay would probably be the first two you should buy - if the amp has reverb.

Start with the amp though.

Fender is mid-scooped, chimey, washy reverb - superb. Vox and Marshalls are the opposite - mid pushed EQ.

A smaller amp will sound better on it's own and most overdrive pedals are better if the amp is already getting hot. So at home, smaller is better as the amp can do it's thing and the pedal add's a little love. If you add a Soul Food to the Fender HRD you'll just get loud then louder.
