Off to Northumberland at Easter will be dragging the kids round as many walks as possible. Cant wait for the smokies from sea houses they're brill.

Any decent walks anyone done up there ?

So you found the thread placid, couldn't for life of me remember what it was called, tried putting in rambling but this didn't appear.

I will ask my mate, I'm sure he's done up that way walking a few times and post up next week.

Did Grimworth last week , ended up going around four times it was that good. seen something that was either a stoat/weasel or someone's abandoned albino ferret, next time taking a camera as mobiles are shit for taking pictures. I will upload some what I took when I can but its a cracking place only 4.5 miles around (but less according to my app).

As I'm back up here in Threshfield and its lagging it down I, off back up Malham way tomorrow. In the meantime going down the old hall then back to the gamekeepers inn tonight then back to watch some shite on telly.

Im staying near Bamburgh. Was going to go to Keilder but its miles away form anywhere. Sadly looking forward to the night sky apparently best place in the country for star gazing. They reckon they get the aurora from Keilder observatory. Praying for clear skies.

Head into the Cheviots. Up north around Wooler is good, plus the College Valley. My personal favourite is the Coquet Valley - keep going past Alwinton - some great walking along the border path, Windy Gyle the pick - great views if the weather's good.

Great walking from Craster up to Dunstanburgh castle; a bit further north - Embleton Bay - is The Ship at Low Newton - great food and ale right on the beach. Bamburgh - head north past the lighthouse and dodge the crowds ( ;) ) great walk along golden sands (if the tide is out) round to Budle Bay. Fish and chips in Seahouses is the rules in our house. Lindisfarne worth a trip, as is Howick Hall.

They're not as it happens. They're just domesticated version of the polecat, and are normally mucky brown with some white bits on. Albino ones are just a poncy fashion accessory (TT?).

The white weasely thing Otis saw was probably a Stoat in it's winter coat or Ermine, especially if it had a black tip to it's tail. The weasel is quite a lot smaller and stays brown in the winter.

I did say, mostly in my experience :D.

My brother kept a few when I was young and he had both types, the mucky ones as you refer to we called polecats (seemingly incorrectly) and the albino ones we called ferrets. Not claiming to be an authority, this was about 1969.

I've been doing the 10k hike up Victoria Peak every morning for past 2 weeks and will do so until I get a job.

Good for the mind, body and soul, gets the endorphins flowing, which gets me in the right frame of mind to interview with cunts.

Halfway up you have the Pinewood Battery which is where the Brits and locals tried to defend Hong Kong from a Japanese naval invasion. The Japanese obvious decided to attack from land by coming in from south China and their fate was sealed.

Going to do Lantau next week, which is the island with the airport on, but it gives you this kind of view, which ain't too shabby.

Did a nice little 5 mile circular round Addingham, a first proper walk for my 7 year old. A long the river wharfe past a few fly fisherman, criss crossed the tour route a couple of times. Had a great view of the Wharfe valley from Eller Carr Wood ridge, Appletreewick to the left, Beamsley Beacon in front and Ilkley Moor to the right.

Just off in Skipton to get some stuff for my snap then off up the back to Craccoe then up a lane near the Devonshire arms that seems to go somewhere over the tops. Sun out at moment.

I biked up Mastiles Lane once. Got off about 100 meters from the top.
