Up early this morning for some vicarious adventure. Cup of tea and a blanket on the sofa.
Big takeaways, Oregon and Washington State look fantastic, you could keep the desert parts for me. I’d be a total outcast doing one of these type of walks. I have nothing but contempt for people who wear vests instead of T-shirt’s. How do people wreck their feet seemingly so easily? I’ve done hikes in all kinds of inappropriate shoes, trainers, wore ten year old steelies for work and never fucked up my feet like these people managed to do in their carefully selected, broken in purpose built boots and hiking shoes?
Trail names. Fuck off I could never call anybody Roadrunner even if it said Roadrunner on their birth certificate. You can’t do anything in life if you put your mind to it just because you can walk the length of America. I would tell people this. Big coats and shorts in the snow, what’s that all about? Beards don’t make you whacky, they just mean you’ve stopped shaving.
Having said that, I’ve been inspired to watch a video of The Appalachian Trail. Not as good so far, bloke is walking it to change his life. Stuck in a rut, blah, blah, blah. Cunts with ukuleles and violins.
America has some spectacular scenery but not a patch on the British Isles.
