We overlook Caballo, which is 3013m and the most Westerly peak of that range - its on the eastern side of the vally, we're on the southern hill (which is the big hill at the back on the top picture) looking back north east. Mulhacen is a couple behind it to the east and although higher, its a dull trudge upto the summit - but you can only get to it from the three villiages up the poqueira valley and theres loads of stuff round there. As well as millions of fucking hippy's.
The MTB bozos normally do the road over Veleta - which goes up and over near the summit which is 3393m and I think they also do some of the high ridge stuff - which is fucking scary and hard work walking it, so fuck knows what its like on a bike.
Both are no go September through to April cos of all the snow.
