Young_Marxist_at_Tescos danpiesley wrote^ Great commentator.Loved it when him and Phil were describing a sprint finish.Respected for getting round the TdF on a bike before he took up commentating. Sad loss.
Anchor Yeah - took me a few years to get used to Ned and Millar. I like them now, particularly Ned.I love Phil Ligget. Great knowledge. I had a video of something he did about BMX from the 80's he was enthusing about it so much - really passionate but had no real idea what it was. Andy Ruffle haring around a track and pulling aerials on a quarter pipe.Anyway - Sherwen - will be missed. They were still commentators on the TDF after 2016 but ITV could not afford them or summat so essentially went in house with Ned and Millar.
Kevin_Stapleton Famous people die all the time, but sometimes a death throws you a bit; this is one of them. Not a huge huge fan but for a while the music of The Buzzcocks spoke more directly to this hormone ravaged teenager than almost anything else. My brother’s copy of Singles Going Steady was played so incessantly he gave it to me. The music of Pete Shelley played a small but important part in my life - thank you Pete, may you rest in peace.https://youtu.be/0BdYvPR1yl8“Nothing ever happens to people like us, except we miss the bus”
Reggie_Perrin Sondra Locke. 74.Not a great actress or beauty but she wa in Every Which Way bit Loose so by association is a legend.
fuzzy Our lasses granddad Bert. Was at his funeral today. Think I've mentioned him on here before but I really liked him. He was born in 1928 in Moss Side. His mam died when he was 12 when the Germans bombed their house. Started work at 14 as an apprentice engineer for £36 a year. His dad died when he was 16. His dad had had health problems all of Bert's life from the first world war. Bert then went to live with his sister but she died when he was 18. He went on to fall in love and have 3 kids, loads of grandchildren and great grandchildren and very much loved by all his family. Life long City fan, I used to enjoy talking to him about all sorts but when we got on to football he'd get his i-Pad out to check the latest news and results. Aged 90! He had two rashers of bacon and two eggs for breakfast every day for decades. Very funny and a superb story teller. Something struck me when one of his grandsons was talking about him today. He's in his late 30's and just got married this year. He said that his granddad had taught him how to be a man, then he welled up a bit. Bert was old school and a great role model. Nice to know there are probably people knocking about like that everywhere. Anyway, he got told he had cancer this summer and refused treatment as he didn't fancy chemo etc at his age. Here's to people like him! RIP Bert.
