Death List 2026

Harvest

Or dressed as a Nazi. He was fucking awful.

Cooley

Harvest I didn’t particularly like him either. Found him a bit creepy. I did like that show he did though. Gifted in some ways, but outdated now.

Cooley Gifted in some ways, but outdated now.

Too true. I couldnt see him getting a place on Britains Got Talent dressed as a Nazi now but in yester years Hughie Greens Opportunity Knocks, he'd have probably won it.

Flaneur

I remember their TV shows being funny at the time.

Cooley

Put it this way: I’d much rather watch Freddie Starr for an hour than MacIntyre. Or Lucas. Or Walliams. Or that annoying mumsy Scottish bird. The list is lengthy.

i was recently looking at some old footage from the likes of Frank Carson and others on the Comediens. Wow how comedy has changed. I did take the plunge and watch some Bernard Manning footage as i honestly had never seen any before. I wont be watching any more.

Arses. That Welsh squad (76 to 78?) was the reason why I had a Welsh Rugby shirt as a kid and not an English one.

Cooley

I don’t think he’s in the side, but any old excuse to dust off and post this classic:

Reggie_Perrin

heyho Always struck me as a wrong un Starr. He looked like he could be a nasty piece of work and thrived on people around him being wary of him. Don't like people like that.

Cooley

Reggie_Perrin Good point.

RIP

Nobby had dementia for years but what a man.
5 foot 7, 10 stone wet through, blind as a bat, and won the World Cup and European Cup.
Scared of nowt.

Raposa

Great player Nobby.
Love that footage of him dancing around Wembley, socks round ankles after the final in 66.

RIP

Jon

I never realized he wasn't exactly what you'd call an England regular prior to the world cup.

Cooley

Another one gone. We’ve lost Banksy, Big Jack and Martin Peters all in pretty quick succession. Poor fucker probably didn’t know he’d even won the World Cup by the end. RIP Nobby.

Foxy_Dread

Played in my first ever game did Nobby. Never known much about him except his well known reputation. Just watched a video, he had a knack for winning the ball and as we know with Norman, these 'hard men' all could play, that shone through in the clips.

My dad ran into Stiles a lot when Stiles was managing PNE late 70s early 80s. He thought he was really sound but a rubbish manager but what he couldn't get his head round was how this slight genial bloke who couldn't see and looked like an accountant had terrorised opponents for years. By all accounts he was some hardman.
If my dad liked him he must have been alright cos he didn't like many. His autobiography is a decent read as well. Was there some controversy with his treatment by manu Cords?

Can't recall anything. He might have fell out with Tommy Doc but most of the old guard did.
Ace picture at Maine Road.
