When my son's mum died, I took some of her ashes to a place where she used to love going on holiday, a place where me and the wife continue to go (they ended up being very close friends).
We chose a spot (outside the Hotel Illa D'or hotel) in Puerto Pollensa (they have a little jetty thing), and as we walked there, we snaffled some flowers from the fronts of the houses. We bound them together, sprinkled her ashes on top, popped it in the water and let it float off back across the bay. The sun was going down and we retired for a cocktail and sat in silence for half an hour watching it bob and weave until we couldn't see it anymore.
