Dads ashes are buried at Kilingbeck. One of the few things I ever seen to have got right for my mum was to say bury them. At the time I had a notion to scatter them at Coniston or Windermere, places we’d kayaked and had a good time, or Rothwell car auctions, or Babingtons Scrap
Yard, places he liked. She’s a big Catholic and having somewhere to visit means a lot to her. It doesn’t really mean anything to me. He’s been dead 30 odd years now. I hate to think how hard it would’ve been for her not having somewhere to tend or visit or leave flowers for all that time, even if she has had her car broken into multiple times while doing so.
My niece is up there too. I can’t get my head around all the teddy bears and shite people take to kids graves. Looks a fucking mess but then who am I to judge someone who’s lost their kid? There’s little dignity in it.
Put me out for the birds to pick my bones clean. I have one kid who would probably do this for me.
Told my wife whatever she wants if I go first is fine. Been a few times she’s been in hospital and talking about this stuff has been necessary. Her brother would support whatever I wanted to do. If anything happened while her parents were still alive I’d ship her back to be buried in Ireland, for them more than anything. Keep the peace.
CBIT, I am impressed. Respect.
