scootay
Genuinely iconic, there were rumours he was poorly when the second last lp came out but i havent picked up on that with this release. A bit shocked when i heard the news this morning . R i p

'A lot of what I do is very simple it's just that the choices I make are very different to other people's'
Great quote that. And sums him up perfectly.

All the pillars of the temple are falling. For any Monday, it's definitely not hunky dory....

A bit like Trav I'm not a big fan but was still shocked as Bowie is obviously up there as a rock legend
My first thought was to how many on here would be feeling - a great time to celebrate his life rather than mourn his passing
R.I.P
Cuts
Three albums and a best of so not a massive e fan. No doubting his standing in the game but he belonged to a slightly older generation to me.
Imagine that though, fighting cancer and still recording, still creating. Can't do anything other than respect that. Dignified and private.

I remember being fascinated by The Man Who Fell to Earth film when I was a teenager. Very stylish and I thought he was OK in in, but he is quite Alien-like anyway.

From now on I'm telling myself that he didn't die. He just went home.

Saw your line about haircuts on twitter. Bang on I reckon

Not massively into him but really shocked when I heard this morning. It was his birthday last week and he had a new album out, and there was no mention of him being ill then. An icon.
Raposa
Absolute legend in my eyes, struggling to think of any artist that's impacted on so many others as much.
As with others of a similar age,I was brought up on Bowie (and Roxy) and I've got just about everything he's ever made.
We can be Heroes...and he was for me!!
RIP.

If it wasn't for Bowie, Ferry and Iggy I wouldn't have discovered punk. Not a fan of his later stuff, but can't deny his 'golden era' and his influence. Sad news, indeed.

An absolute icon
Probably the single most influential modern British musician.
Got to see him live only once and it's one of the only two occasions I've cried at a gig ( the other being stevie wonder, still not sure on that one though)
Went out and bought tickets for Neil Young this lunchtime ( you never know how long these aging icons are going to last)

For the american rapping talentless beaut kanye west who seems to poke his nose into everything , leave it the cover of 'The rise and fall of ziggy stardust" has nothing to do with you .
Placid
sad day. Genuinely upset.

Absolutely shocked and saddened to hear of his passing and so dignified with his silence of his terminal illness. An absolute one off original who looked and sounded like no one else of his time.Whos around now that could have the musical and style impact he had?Sometimes Genius is banded around after the passing of icons and is rarely deserved. Not in this instance.
RIP
