Cuts, Placid, Young Marxist and yours truly. Hopefully more, including some from here.

A place to read about bikes, stuff to do with bikes, the people who ride them, where they do and why?

Site looks good, crisp, clean clear. Good work by all those who worked on it. Anyone wants to write anything, our standards, as you can see, are low, please do. All stories appreciated. We're like Sabotage Times, we'll put owt up!

Not had a bike for nearly 40 years now,but just ordered one of those hybrid numbers from Halfords, after taking advantage of our Cycle to Work scheme.A mixture of a late attempt at getting fit and also to take advantage of some decent routes around Otley (Chevin),the canal etc.Might be tapping into you guys for some decent localish routes.

Good work.

Bollocks, so am I banned from writing for this as well?

That's ace, don't be like Sabotage Times, keep it tight and tidy (like you are doing), just like Back and Forth -
http://www.back-and-forth.netYou have to really dig to get past the dross and sponsored content on self-sabotaged, Sabotaged Times...

Same Wordpress theme. I'll get round to 'same sizing' all the images eventually......

How disappointing. I thought it was a new Slaughter and the Dogs site....

So many Slaughter And The Dogs comments you'd think they were massive. I'd never heard shit from them, great name though. Proper Pistols in Manchester stuff going on.

Very hard to look cool while riding a bike innit? They all seem proper nerds to me...fit nerds like but nerds all the same. And why oh why do they insist on doubling up,having a chat when pedaling away on some B road so you can;t get past?Single file for fuck sake!

At the moment, the five party tents in the streets around my flat have got it cranked up really high. Noisy shitfaced spanish bastards.

I read Young Marxist´s piece and it inspired me to ride my bike on a single gear.As some will know I had my bike nicked almost three weeks ago, since then i´ve been on a shit cheap chainstore type bike, it cose about 150 euro new. The worst thing about it is the suspension on the front wheel can´t be locked off, no, forget that, that´s just one of many shit things about it.I rode it for a couple of days, feeling really fucked off with myself for saddling missen with a shit bike, then i had an idea, I had to ride the bike differently to the lost bike to stop the comparisons that were making me miserable. So I deemed to ride it as a fitness bike, where I would constantly ride at whatever pace meant I was feeling it, always working myself, so what if I blew up and was fucked half way into work (its 11 miles one way). The change of mindset did it, and in no time I was enjoying the commutes again. When I read YMAT´s piece although I´ve never wanted a fixed speed bike, I decided to ride mine on the highest gear only, I was on this gear most of the time anyway, but not for the few hills on my commute, its´mainly flat. Anyway after a week almost on just one gear, i´m thoroughly enjoying it, so much so that if I was to buy another bike around here it would be a single speed, after tackling hills for a week i´m sure my legs feel a good bit stronger too, and my acceleration seems better already. I´m enjoying pissing off the lycra set as well, when I whizz past on my shit bike, I get a cheap thrill seeing them out of the saddle or working hard to get past me, of course the heavy duty lycra boys beat me easily enough, but i can catch a few of the poseurs napping, which is nice. One thing I don´t get about fixed speed bikes is why they need to be good expensive bikes, okay you want the bike to be comfortable and that, but if I´ve understood it properly, the spirit of the bike is that it´s about you, your body and more so your legs are the key, so why bother spending shit loads on high quality components etc, go cheap and make yourself work harder, I´m not saying I´m right but it seems thats the spirit of it to my mind.Anyway to summarise, Í´m really enjoying my cycling again even if i´m on a shit bike. Oh and I wish the thieving bastards would let me have my Schwalbe marathon plus puncture resistant tyres off the old bike, after 250 miles i´ve already had one puncture, I´d done thousands on the Schwalbe´s without one.

Write something for the site why don't you. That sounds like a decent commute and you've done it loads, I remember.
Foxy_Dread
I would but my writing is that bad that it would be a major effort and the time is an issue at the moment. Next decent holiday I get perhaps.

Your writing's sound. Don't think, just write, who cares about spelling (apart from the odd pendant on here) a good story's a god story, anyway, we've got a self appointed editor. You're in with a fighting chance at sounding half decent, 'cause it ain't me. YM@T has set he bar high though, the fucker.
