Great post/ride LBB. The buzz after finishing something like that is brill. Need to get out next weekend.

I have Shimano´s and Sidi´s. The Shimano´s were a present, the Sidi´s were free with the Legnano bike which saved me a few quid.

Will probably go down the same route and get NW. $100 ... the Sidis I want are $250 ... Shimano shoes, never owned any. Now to find some black army style shorts with padding and I'm sorted.

Great read that for a 100miler. You have taken the wind out my sails! Plus with Yorkshire hills, hell of an effort!I broke my 100mile duck. I cycled from just in South Wales to Portsmouth on Saturday, then spent Sunday & Monday cycling around the Isle of Wight, with a train journey home. The ride to Portsmouth was fine apart from the Salisbury Plains which was horrendous on the A365, a major a road, but thin with shit loads of traffic. I was struggling then with about 80k done. I stopped in Salisbury for a full English and a coffee and a lie down in the cathedral grounds. Then from there to Southampton and then to Portsmouth. 108miles in 9hrs riding time, plus an hour rest so 10hrs, with a 2days of gear on the bike. But the best was the Isle of Wight, I felt I was in the south of France, as the weather was perfect. If any of you get the chance the scenery is second to none, with the sea around you. The main road around the island as it rises up to and then down to Freshwater bay is the best climb I have done. I was tingling going up, with the white cliffs and sea below you. I feel now I can call myself a proper cyclist. I even had a 20 mile ride back from the train station & I was buzzing, so much I decided to sprint up the last hill by my house to blow my legs to bits and it felt great.

Can anyone tell me how much climbing there is from Peel Isle of Man to Port Erin Isle of Man via Dalby. It´s about 13.5 mile but was a tough 13.5 mile.

Not long finished spin session tonight. I fucking hate cycling.....Serious note. Loads of inspiring stuff. And we've some proper miles being done on here now. I failed to get the C2C sorted before but surely we can sort an OMJ trip out at some stage? If not there's got to be a 'Velo Club OMJ' jersey to be had? I reckon Ted could design it...

Time is of the essence so I´ll keep this short, but if anyone is after a general purpose bike don´t buy one before I´ve tried to convince you to get the Islabike Beinn 29. A lovely bike to ride, and highly recommended if it fits your purpose.

I've had a few embarrassing falls too. Takes a while to get used to. Contemplated going back to regular pedals. Get nervous in traffic.

Just make sure you start to get your first foot out early, don´t leave it too late and you´ll be fine.It could be worse, Keo´s are a lot harder to get out of than spds.
