Fitted some aero bars to my hybrid. My good bike called Chris. It takes a bit of getting used to, with the steering and you are aware you probably look stupid. But fuck it, it gives me another position on the bike which will be useful, and now I can get down (not in the dancing way) out of the wind.

Ride out to Burnsall from West Park today. Otley, Ilkley past Bolton Abbey, over the bridge at Burnsall and then back through Appletreewick with a stop at Cav Pav for a coffee. 55 miles-ish. Sessions paying off mind, really pushed it at times. LBB's 100 miler has inspired me. Only another 45 or so, how hard can that be eh? ;)

Most of it is in your head. I go with the mindset that it is going to be an absolute bastard, then when you have gritted your teeth and battled with your brain, and completed it, it feels great.

What shoes did you end up getting? Are you using Look, Time or SPDs?

Sure Oakley used to do padded 'cargo' shorts. I knew any hope was gone when I bought my first 'bibs'....

Get some Shwalbe Marathon Plus's. I have had mine for a year now and no punctures (touch wood) They are a bit heavy but I cant rate them high enough. I hit a massive pot hole at speed with a loaded bike and they still didnt blow. Great tyres. No I wont be stopping. Rain or shine, light and dark
