Couple of recent rides have made me realise how many miles I need to get in and how many hours on the spin'll be needed if I'm going to do it justice. And then there's the fact my uncle flew up it the year he turned 60!

My gran used to live off Grove lane when I was a kid. Used to spend loads of time up Woodhouse ridge and Meanwood beck. Was really beautiful in those days. All kinds off stuff up the ridge, victorian follies and as you say, some unbelievable houses. They're all either student digs or university 'faculties' I believe now.

Our first flat when I was a baby was on Montpelier Terrace. Born in Hyde Park maternity.

Done some good stuff from around the UK. I always thought it would've great to superimpose a Black Maria on that Boar Lane picture but I 'm not smart enough to do that

Why not do it next year? Not sure when I'm going, probably later in the year now (risk the rain etc but avoid the stupid heat). Was going to do early but baby due Feb.

Did the Jackson Bridge climb near New Mill last night, which is a right bastard. They've used it in the past for the national HC championship. Can't remember the last time I had to start a climb in bottom gear. First three corners are absolutely murderous and there's hardly any respite all the way up. It'll be on Strava or one of them sites if anyone fancies having a look.
