Not so beautiful day today. Raining like a bastard when I went out. Sun came out later. Short of time so I rode up a big hill, went round and did it again.

Ride to Leeds today for an alarm fob for work (don't ask). 10 miles of head wind on the way home. Rain. Quite enjoyed it.

Great this being off work lark. Did two rides on Tuesday. One was to get the turkey from Keelham. Seemed like a good idea until I hit Queensbury. Wind and rain were mental. Thank God most drivers gave me a wide birth as the gusts were shifting me 4 or 5 feet into the road. Interesting cycling at 45 degrees.
Still, wasn't going to let a free pass go so went out again. Not as windy but the rain was mental.
Back on the mountain bike today. Not the best start. We'd only got a mile or so before Harry wiped out on black ice just shy of a roundabout. Pride hurt a little (he's a pro athlete, I'm a middle-aged ex-smoker and I stayed upright). Scrape on his elbow. What hurt the most was the tear in his £400 ASOS jacket!
He had another off on the towpath.
I'd love to blame the weather for mine on the Norland Downhill but it was 100% rider error. Proper egg coming up on my shin.
Beautiful up above Hebden. Nice covering of snow. Coming back down we ended up riding in a field to avoid the sheet ice on a 20% farm road. Woman trying to walk her dog up it is probably still there, couldn't get any grip bless her. We offered to help.

Tour t'Yorkshire
The route of the inaugural Tour de Yorkshire cycle race has been announced.
The three-day event starts on Friday 1 May in Bridlington, East Yorkshire.
The riders will travel around Yorkshire to Scarborough, Selby, Wakefield and York, before ending the final day in West Yorkshire at Roundhay Park, Leeds.
The new event is to be run by Welcome to Yorkshire and Amaury Sport Organisation, which organises the Tour de France.
Stage one
Stage one is to start in the seaside town of Bridlington and finish further up the coast in Scarborough, North Yorkshire.
During the day the riders will take in Flamborough Head and the North York Moors National Park, through Dalby Forest towards Pickering and back to the coast at Whitby. It will then head south to Robin Hood's Bay with the finish line on the seafront at Scarborough.
Stage two
Stage two on Saturday 2 May sees the race start outside Selby Abbey, North Yorkshire and finish in York.
The route takes in much of the Yorkshire Wolds, and takes the peloton towards Market Weighton, through North Newbald and on to Beverley. It will turn north to Malton, then on to Stamford Bridge before a circuit of York.
Stage three
The final day on Sunday 3 May starts in Wakefield, West Yorkshire and finishes in Leeds.
Riders will travel through South Yorkshire to Barnsley before heading to Holmfirth and Ripponden, before riding the Cragg Vale descent - raced in the other direction on the Tour De France.
The riders will go through Hebden Bridge, Oxenhope and the cobbled streets of Haworth. After a steep climb at Goose Eye the riders visit Ilkley, with a climb up by the Cow and Calf rocks before Arthington and the finish line in Roundhay Park.
Each stage will be a distance of about 110 miles (180km)
Build on success
The race is also to include a women's race on the second day and a mass-participation "sportive". Here there will be several distances where people can ride the same route as the professionals. This will be held on 3 May.
The event is approved by cycling's governing body the UCI.
The three-day race was announced in September and hopes to build on the success of the Tour de France when an estimated three million people watched the Grand Départ over two days in Yorkshire, with the economic benefit to the region put at £102m.
Organisers hope the race will attract the world's leading road cyclists to Yorkshire

Just back. I don't know what's worse, the fact Strava 'auto-paused' after 9 seconds or the fact that I've let that wind me up? Proper fucking MAMIL behaviour that.
Up to Queensbury, back down in and through Fax to Elland. Towards Brighouse and then the climb up to Southowram (always longer than you think it is when you start at the bottom).
Hipperholme and then up through Low Moor to Odsal. Then Shelf and back home.
No idea how long, how much climbing. Maybe that's a good thing. Legs felt good and I enjoyed it. Which is what it should be about I guess.

Decent trip out in the rain this morning. More about miles and being in the saddle than any epic climbs (having a crack at Stocks Lane again next week). Up through Queensbury, back down into Halifax and then out to Tod and back via Elland on the way home.
Riding past Saville Park in the Fax and a ball came flying off the pitch from a Sunday League game. Of course it hit my front wheel. I was flying at the time as well. Quite proud that I managed to keep the bike straight and ride off.
