Balls bigger than King Kong there.A question for all you Mountain Bikers, how do you gauge fit correctly? I was in a shop the other day, sat atop a large framed 27.5 if I'd had to jump off sharpish I'd have bashed my balls on the top tube. Seems quite a few manufacturers are moving away from increments not an inch and moving into the relm of S M L.Also, thoughts on 29ers v 27.5. I am told 29 makes more sense for someone like me, 6' 1". But I'm thinking 27.5
Travis_Bickle
29ers are back being the next big thing after they were for a while but then 27.5 was the next big thing.I was told to get one (6'4) when I was looking at the On One Codeine. My frame is an XL, equivalent of a 21 inch frame. With my dropper post fully up I'm on tip toes. With the MTB the top tube length is quite important, depends on how stretched you like being.

I felt comfy in that respect but the bloke in the shop suggested a longer stem. Left me more confused than ever.
Travis_Bickle
He must have been a XC rider if her was talking about longer stems! Perceived wisdom with trail riders has been short stems and wide bars for a while. As with most of these things a lot of it is bollocks but there is some logic to having that set-up if you're riding techy stuff. I have what people would regard as quite a long stem but it sits me perfectly on the bike, any shorter and there's a risk I'd feel too upright. None of these things are perfect. If it feels right for you it probably is. Do any of the shops do demo days? I know someone who did one and it really helped them work out what they wanted and what size they needed etc.I reckon a 'L' is right for you at 6'1.
Travis_Bickle
Things like the stem can be changed relatively cheaply. They can go for a few quid second hand on the net.

I'm off over to a shop in Randolph having a used bike sale this afternoon. Demo day is new on me. Bloke in the local shop would let you take it one out but they do Haro? And high end Jamis - as in expensive Jamis

Well that was a waste of time.

Found a Legnano for 260.
