Cooley Harvest If he have landed on his knob, maybe it would have cushioned the impact and he’d have survived the plane crash. 😟
Harvest Strange to think he captained the side to the league title and two European Cups but never won an international cap. Great midfield that, with O' Neill, Bowyer and Gemmill - not Speed, Batty, McAllister, Strachan of course, but still.
Mega_Armageddon_Chickens Misura As a youngster I was genuinely fearful that Scotland could win the 78 world Cup. They had some cracking players. Teofilio Cubillas was a hero for some years.
fulmine Was listening to a great Brian McClair interview recently on a Celtic podcast. He was remembering Beckham’s goal at Wimbledon from the halfway line, watching him shoot. “Fucking hell, that’s going in. Oh fuck. Scottish goalkeeper.”
Harvest Scotland have had World class players -Dalglish, Bremner, Law, Johnstone etc but have never been able to progress from the 'In it for the piss up' mentality. Denmark have done it, Portugal have, Iceland have had their own degree of success. Scotland seem to see beating England in 67 and wrecking Wembley in 77 as their major achievements.
Harvest Misura Yes. Yes. YES!!!!! I've had this argument so many times. He was like Goal of The Month being given to speculative Jamie Vardy shot from the edge of the box when some kid from Stafford Rangers has beaten eight men and lobbed the keeper from thirty yards in front of an empty stand and not got a mention. All about the gloss and the glitz and the glamour rather than the input.
Harvest Beckham was a good player but never a great. He worked hard at what he did both on and off the field.
Raposa Misura What?? Give over! (Gee-orr). All about opinions but I thought Beckham was a brilliant footballer, one of the best passers of the ball in recent times. Generally worked his nads off too. Then you look at his ability to score from dead balls etc and really he had it all. People read too much into his off field image, the film star looks, clothes etc and often forget just how good he was . One of those you hated when he played for "them" but admired and respected when he played for England...that's my take on him anyway.
Foxy_Dread As a player had I been lining up opposite Beckham, I'd never have thought, fuck I've got to mark that twat today, i'd have always have fancied my chances. Early Giggs would have been a scarier thought. That game against Greece he totally abandoned his position outwide to go wherever he wanted to go. Fuck that.
