Foxy_Dread I think that Russia invaded Ukraine due to a number of reasons; Ukraine wishing to build stronger bonds with the EU & NATO, the possible ill health of Putin, the weakening of the USA's desire to be international peace keepers especially in Europe, the geopolitical playout in Syria, the over reliance on Russian utilities, the support of China as a water tester for Taiwan, the slow decrease in the quality of international politicians/heads of state, a lasting desire to return to the good old days of a greater Russia/USSR, the lack of response to pervious acts of Russian aggression and the weakening of the bonds that hold Europe/EU. They all came together in a perfect storm and he chanced his arm.

Renatino Putin is a child of the disintegration of the USSR. He's the arch opportunist (as was Stalin, Hitler, Mao and all the wannabees that followed) amongst an ever growing cabal of arch opportunists. As cold blooded as it is possible to be, he sees people as a disposable resource to be used at his whim and doesn't give a fuck who he upsets. The ultra corrupt soviet system of government was simply moved into an arch capitalist model which became the feeding ground of the ultra corrupt opportunists. If you've not seen Traumazone - Russia 1985 - 1999 its worth a watch if not only for the absolute desperation of most of Russia (Moscow and St Pete excluded) during that period following Yeltsin and the US sponsored capitalist shock tactics. It really is an eye opener for how fucked up Russia now really is.

Loose_Lips This Wagner lot are probably the most dangerous entity in the world at the moment and loss of control was always going to be an issue. They've had the best part of 10 years to get established and given their tentacles everywhere will be very difficult to dismantle, especially by a regime as corrupt as Putin's. Questions need to be asked about who's arming these cunts and with which governments tacit approvals - I would guess they're not limited to old Kalshnikovs and AKs.. If you thought Spicer's Sandline were dodgy this is dodgy on a whole new level.

I watched a documnetary about Wagner, mental. Apprentely they're Russia's Mercernaries set up to fight in countries where Russian Troops cannot go.

Placid Yes, Prigozhin's noise is all political. He knows the Russian generals are losing, so anything against them will sit well with Putin. Also, he knows Putin is finished at some stage so the tough guy noise will also sit well with the Russian public for as-and-when he makes his political move, post Putin. He can't really lose unless Putin wants him to.

Djpekingman Current theory is that Prigozhin/Wagner run most of the people trafficking mobs that are shipping people out of Africa and into dinghies pointed at Greece, Italy and across the Channel. I don't know if that is true but he's definiteily been Putin's go to man for the dirty tricks and proxy wars.

What the Russian press is saying agrees with what Prigozhin is saying. Which makes me think it's all a lie/ruse.

OSINT community is saying that that Wagner have crossed the border into Russia and the Chechens have left and are heading back to Chechnya.
The Russian Press say that Moscow is under some sort of martial law.
The Russian trolls on social media are saying that absolutely nothing is happening.
The Kremlin are saying nothing.
The Russian military are saying nothing.
UK/USA are saying nothing.
