Cracking night, saw CMAT at Piece Hall. Took Mrs Harvest who'd never heard of her. It was our wedding anniversary as well. Had a bit of scran in Halifax, great atmosphere with loads of people out for the gig eating and drinking, still warm in the open air.
Amazing gig venue and well organized, easy to get a drink and get to the bogs. Feels sort of grown up as a venue. I bet the surrounding businesses rake it in over summer - this is who's played/playing this year.
Katy J Pearson was support and really good. CMAT came on at 8.30 and did two hours. It was genuinely one of the best gigs I've been to in years. Opened up with Jamie Oliver Petrol Station and you'd think it was the closing number, absolutely stunning start. The whole gig was a complete joy - just fun, camp as fuck, great heartfelt music, amazing voice, total interaction with the audience and rest of the band, taking the piss out of herself and high kicking through the show. Even a cover of Wuthering Heights. I'm not sure how many the venue holds but everyone had a smile on their faces. She's a real star, a proper show-woman. Felt privileged to be there.
