fulmine Under-the-ground Yes, heard the last album before the gig and was thinking “hmmm, it’s a bit too Mojo…” but thought the songs sounded better live and the new stuff better still. Loved the way Buck studiously avoided eye contact throughout but still managed to work his way through various Johnny Thunders poses. And great to see that Rickenbacker shine under the lights!
fulmine Blondie were great, banging out the hits. Debbie Harry was on good form, Clem Burka’s drum fills and occasional solos (yikes) got a bit meh, but it was one of those gigs when you forgive anyone anything really, just about enjoying the moment and having a singalong. Would love to see them again in a smaller venue though. And Clem Burke liked my (actually rather shite) photo on Instagram so that made my week. Won’t hear a word against him now…
fulmine CharlieG Went to a great mini-exhibition of Rickenbackers to tie in with a book that just came out. Roger McGuinn’s was there, Townsend’s, Weller’s, etc.
fulmine otis They are flipping lovely things, aren’t they? Supposed to be buggers to tune though, or something.
Anchor Off to see Ian Prowse/Pele/Amsterdam at his Christmas party in the pool on the 10th of December. Ace.
Under-the-ground Spiritualised in bath. I have never before been to this many concerts in a short space of time, but that is lockdown. anyway this was good. I haven’t seen them since 97 ish. They weren’t as loud as then, but it must take hours to rehearse. The levels of sound are mind blowing. You can tell he just lives it. Pretty impressive. next mick head in June.
Rudi Well, that was weird. I was walking through the city centre and who do I see coming towards me but Glenn Matlock. Hello Glenn, says I. What you doing here? Playing a gig with Blondie, he says. Wanna come? So that's where I'm going ...
fuzzy Aright WD. Do you know another Leeds fan from Wrexham called Dale? I met him at the Weller gig in Manchester the other week. Seemed a good lad. PS my mate saw Divine Comedy in York this weekend and said they were ace. Have a top night 👊
white_dragon fuzzy Don't think I know Dale . Yes Devine Comedy were really good . I love the Philharmonic Liverpool. Stayed over so had a few beers, City centre was bouncing all day .
CBIT Veik, post punk indie french trio expressing themselves with analog synths guitars and drums. Another of @Odd_Job 's left field picks, pity he's caught the lurgy and left me to go alone, surprisingly good
