Well in the finest tradition of British festivals it fucking honked it down. However my first gig since Feb 2019 was brilliant. Dreadzone were awesome.

Saw from the jam a couple of nights back. A good night out.

Took the oldest & mate to Foals on Thursday for his GCSEs. They sounded absolutely immense as I was sat in the car waiting. He said they pummelled the audience with hit after hit. His first concert. He should be on the right path now 👍

no he has a guy called Russell Hastings being weller. They are good for a night out but the singer can sound like a dalek sometimes. Good to see Bruce foxton do bass on down in the tube station at midnight though

Last gig before lockdown was 'From the Jam' at Leeds Uni. Took our son, who was completely enthralled. When I asked him what he thought he said it was like a 'religious experience'. Great stuff. Foxton can play the bass a bit and no mistake. I don't understand the split between Weller and Foxton and how they can both do the same songs, independently. I assume they have joint rights over them, or something?

You can sing anybody's song live Pies. Weller owns the copyright and is a good friend of Bruce. Their relationship was rekindled when Bruce's wife sadly died.

He has since played with Weller on stage. Buckler is another matter.

But only a few can play them well and even fewer with authenticity. at least with Foxton he named the group FROM the Jam. Seen them a few times live and they are good. You think of others still doing the circuits such as Stranglers and Buzzcocks who need to drop the 's' from the end of their names.

I was stood next to Pauline Black at a concert a few years ago. Seemed alright in a Ska sort of way.

I do seem to stand next to a few people at concerts. Andy Ellison once but he moved when some punk started pissing on him (and me to be honest). Matt Skilbick (Emerdale Farm) at a Clash concert. Didnt flinch when he stuck his throat down his male partners throat.

Oh and Hazel O'Connor to which I said to her 'did you get that dress from Asda'. She laughed and in a very unsnobbish way said 'it's actually designer'. 'Ahh right' I said 'my wifes got one very similar and its from Asda George. The woman she was with was her saxophonist and pretty tidy. I may have made a remark on the grounds of 'she looks like that woman out of Cold Feet, not Faye Ripley, the other one'. I think I meant Hermione Norris. When I was leaving, as my daughter was giving me a lift home, I bumped into the pair of them again on the steps to which O'Connor said to her mate 'thats gentleman informs me you can get dresses like this at asda now'. And then she said to me 'we are all going for a few after show drinks if you want to come'. I went home.

Tolley True. And I also have a conscience and have often found a spot that wont impede peoples viewing much to Mrs H's disgust as she is 5ft 2". She does get her own back though if people are talking around us by shouting 'won't you fucking shut up' then if they start getting funny say 'I'm with him'. I'm soft as shit but have to man up on such occassions.

Loved that. Saw Marianne Faithful at the Royal Festival Hall a few years back. She was sat down waving a stick. Singing and reminiscing away. Mind you, just recovering from a hip operation!!

I saw him before the set - MC Spee is his name. He was watching another act - just looked like a random oldish man with a walking stick. Came on stage in a white linen suit - looked the shit.
