You know, seeing all of these wonderful photos that we all post of great places; shore-lines, overlooking coasts and lakes, mooching round familiar and new found cities etc - I wish when i was younger that I appreciated places more, instead of spending disproportionate amounts of times in shit pubs, clubs, clothes shops.
I can't remember when I started regularly saying "jeez, look how beautiful that is", when in amongst nature. But I can't get enough of it now.
One of my dogs (Sadie) is at the vets tomorrow to get her nails trimmed. So we've been having to sedate her with an increase in tablet strength, so that when she arrives tomorrow at 8.30am, she will be more dozy and compliant. She had half a tablet yesterday, a full one today and gets a full one in the morning.
The full one must have affected her today, because we were in the car, on the way to Knutsford to give them a big walk around Tatton Park, then Sunday lunch at The Rose & Crown. In the car she was acting so strange and mewling, like she regularly needed a wee. Very vocal, jumping up in the back of the mini, barking at other cars, and she never does that.
I pulled in on a side road in Davenham (where John Bishop apparently lives). The wife walked the dogs into a field, and then this field opened up into a narrowboat 'car park'. It was stunning, must have been 100 river cruisers and narrowboats in there, lake full of swans and a cool cafe full of cyclists, serving very large and well priced breakfasts (until 3pm - masterstroke).
Nature (and travel), punctuated with food, drink and laughter is unbeatable isn't it.
Sadie's still a bit disorientated, so we walked her (and Frank) round local fields close to our house, and now we've booked lunch at The Hazel Pear (very good vegetarian Sunday lunch for me), and a couple of glasses of red.
In Anglesey last week, we went to The White Eagle at Rhoscolyn, owned by the Timpson family (shoe shop gang), a great pub with an upper deck that overlooks the bay. They had a masterstroke that's a winner - Sunday lunch for dogs, in a bowl. Meat, carrots and gravy. You can choose to give it to them with your starters or main course.
Happy Sunday gang...
