albert herbert hawkins wroteThanks all for the kind thoughts. Saw her yesterday she is now bed ridden. Won't be long, woke up in Nottingham this morning at my cousins place, back up to Leeds for midday to see what has transpired on the overnight. I gave her "Permission" to go yesterday, I have been led to understand this sometimes helps the terminally ill let go. Knowing mum though there 's every chance she'll be sat up waiting to give me a telling when I arrive.
All the best AHH. Sounds like she's making it easier for you all. God bless her for that.
Day my old fella went, he and they knew it was the last day. They brought him out of the morphine induced coma they'd had him in so he could have a chat, say good by and see the priest. He gave the priest short shrift and told him to do one about the confession, then produced his wallet (a thing of legend as he denied having one and could pull a fiver or a tenner out of it without ever taking it out of his pocket) and told me to 'give it to your Mam'. She wasn't there as she couldn't deal with it. Gave me a clasp of his hand, a wink and then they had to put him back under. Told me to not go far and promptly OD'd him on morphine,
Your Mam sounds like she's made of the same stuff. I can't think of higher praise.
