The scene where the mad air cavalry officer attacks the village with winged monkies is a famous piece of cinema.
If you ever get the chance to watch a film here go went friday to watch Apocalypse now , superb surround sound and huge screen no popcorn or slurping of slush puppies you can really get into the film , seems it was shown as some leeds university project so we got a 15 minute lecture from some professor explaining what the film was about I'm afraid your idea of a wizard of oz sequel isn't correct check out Joseph Conrad,s book Heart Of Darkness from 1899 .

The Wizard of Oz and Apocalypse Now are both based on the Heart of Darkness - but without the homo-erotic thing that Conrad had going on. But basically, it's the same story for all three.
One can also argue to put "On the Road" into the same category.
Simply put, HoD and WoO and even AN are just the precursor to the road movie genre.
