All my clients are train or plane rides so thats Zoom for at least 6 months. Girlfriend has a car anyway. I may never go permanently back into the office.

I'd love to use my car seeing as I am still going into work (NHS and all that). It's now 2.5 months since my smash and no sign of it being returned.

It was a present to myself after the shite I had been through so bought it in April after my mums death. I'm not sentimental and all that but I bought the blood thing (0-60 in 4 secs, 350bhp) to enjoy driving again and it was ace during the first lockdown as roads were so quiet.

Yes! probably best of two evils. If it has been written off I would have been out of pocket as the payout would have been much less than it would be to buy an exact replacement. But given the extent of the damage I am worried about how good a repair it gets

heyho it should not fall short, you are paying for indemnity. The value they pay you should reflect the cost of the exact replacement, never accept anything less.

I paid £375 for gap insurance when I bought a Type R years ago. Best money I ever spent. Car got nicked and they wrote it off half a mile from my house.
Good story I may have told on here about how the police thought I'd crashed it and then faked a theft. I say 'good', I was shitting it at the time....

Hardly worth having a decent car these days,what with all the thieving scroats about.
Last decent car I had was a new Audi A3,which ended up being stolen in similar circumstances to LL.
Cunts did the kitchen door and found the keys in the drawer.
Plod told us they'd no doubt reccied the area and earmarked the newer cars for nicking as another couple got taken from the next street.
Got a call a few weeks later from them saying it had been found trashed in Blackburn of all places.
As mentioned by LL...if they want the car,they'll do just about anything to get it,so just glad they didn't come looking upstairs for the keys as I'd forgotten to put the cricket bat under the bed that night! 😁

CharlieG Just wondering - where do you, usually, keep your house/car keys? Mrs G would have them in a dish by the kitchen door. I INSIST that they’re in a drawer out of sight.

We hang our car and house keys on a hook in the kitchen next to the BIG FUCKING DOG. So far we've had no problems.

Loose_Lips Stay safe, LL. That's serious stuff. No one is interested in our 20-year old Volvo, for some reason. I would relish the opportunity of roundhousing one of these little fuckers, but they're often tooled up now. Rounders bat might be more effective, or a crowbar.

99% of burglars don't want any form of confrontation. Loads of them may be thoroughly dishonest but they're not daft.
The fact that the occupier is at home of itself is an aggravating feature that they know ups the sentence.
A confrontation, even without any form of contact, takes it even higher. Add in the actual use of force and you can spend a long time in jail.
There is a new breed that target high-end vehicles and use threats and violence to get them but they're still comparatively rare.
Hope you're okay LL. One thing to take comfort from is that the old 'they come back once the insurance has paid out' is generally regarded as a load of old bollocks.
If it does catch up with any of you there are some great organisations that can offer help and support.

I'd agree that they don't want confrontation but I suspect they usually go prepared for it anyway.
At least that's what the police told us when they (eventually) arrived.
Not nice all round and the fact that we moved from the house not long after,tells you the impact it had on the wife.

Loose_Lips This is why I hope I never catch anyone in my house who is not invited. If they have a weapon then I would have to advise them that, if they actually intended using it, they had better do it as I will kick the living shit out of them and then drag them to the local cop shop.
