I watch a lot of real life detective stuff from America. The difference in sentencing from state to state and the complexity of sentancing is an art form over there but on their day, and in the right state, life means life.

I knew a hunt saboteur as well, although it probably wasn't as honourable.
He was the first person in England to be banned from all 92 football league grounds.
He loved fighting and couldn't go within a mile of a football ground.
Fortunately for him, hunts normally take place well away from town/city centres.
Bans don't last forever, so after a few fights with the landed gentry he returned to football.
