A friend at work always buys Brooks for running. Meanwhile despite my aching knees I managed a whole 2.4 miles yesterday and just as I type Mrs MAC has set off to run 10. Oh well my knees hurt more.

Getting fucked off with my hamstrings. Been injured since NYE and still not right. Did a two miler last week to test and felt ok. Only to ache the day after.

First run in 3 weeks yesterday, having had a not very nice bout of Covid since the last time. I usually do 16-17km but yesterday had to cap it at 10km. The first 6km or so I had to stop a few times, get my breath. The last part was better but still not the same as usual. Times were 20 seconds slower per km than I regularly do, even with the rests. What’s the experience of others on here of getting back into it after they’ve had COVID? Hoping I’ll be back normal in a couple of runs.

I wouldn’t dream of doing anything near 10k after 3 weeks off.
Being an old fart I’m often having to respite for 2 or 3 weeks due to various aches or strains and generally find the first run back a nightmare, breathing all over the show, lungs ready to burst.

Raposa 'Breathing all over the place' was exactly what it was like! Plus lower back pain for god knows what reason. But I had a bit of runner's high from doing the last 4k without needing to stop. I'll try again after the weekend, hoping the Covid after-effects are less. I actually managed to put on a couple of kilos during isolation. That was down to staying under the duvet, emerging from the bedroom to raid the fridge for mini kitkats. And that's in addition to the three or so kg so I gradually put back on last year due to all the stop-start with various injuries.
I was just reading what you wrote about up-thread about the challenges of getting yourself out when it's cold and dark. All of you who are doing that are doing well. Stick at it. Sunny weather all the way through winter here, even though very cold at times. Makes such a difference to motivation.

Managed a jog the other night after a five week hiatus.

Pretty pleased. Up it to two next week before upping the distance.

10k off road run lined up in May.

No park run today. Felt like shit, yesterday, and would have struggled to get round. Still went to Jiu Jitsu, though, and survived an hour and a half of serious training.

Went for a five. Fucking calf muscle has gone now. Again. Just had six weeks off with my hammy. Same leg. Getting royally fucked off with this. 🤕

Fucked off the running. Need to get the cycling up & running. Of to the outer Hebrides in may so need to get the cycling fitness up and running

I smacked into a metal bollard while out running today. Right on front thigh muscle. I was 12km into a 16km run so carried on, though a bit slowly, but it hurts like a bastard now. Stop laughing
