A weekend of leg strengthening/stretching exercises, upper body weights workouts and a couple of 2 mile walks ( avec crutches - going down to one, next week).

On coach from varna to Istanbul. Had to leave the car in bulgaria as its on Spanish plates and not allowed to bring back to Turkey unless we pay 10k import tax. Only 2 hours at border which was pleasant. Night in Istanbul. Bursa tomorrow. Visit to Bulgarian consulate. Then back to Istanbul for flight to izmir....oh the days when I could just rack up at the original oak for a smack head Sunday afternoon of drinking till midnight with an 8 am start Monday morning .....life was so much simpler...

Feel ambiguous being so upbeat in the current climate but the thread's beer drinkers might like to chew on the fact Manchester is very arguably the single most important city on earth for beer this coming weekend.

You've got the giant bar with Joseph Holt specials and 24 other LocAle breweries pouring near the Cathedral as part of the MFDF final weekend, plus the welcome return of UK-leading Indy Man Beer Con with a stellar list of breweries, and distinctive fringe events.

You'd struggle to find casks from Californian OGs Sierra Nevada, London masters the Kernel and West Country faves Deya in the same town as Belgian aristos Drie Fonteinen pouring a lot of special bottles; Joule on Chapel Street have a "Cantillon Breakfast" on Sunday :oops:

Contemporary domestic names like Left Handed Giant, Polly's, Thornbridge, Siren and Verdant rocking up with various one-offs, etc, not to mention all the strong LocAle as per, completes the picture.

These are normal, sensible times that I can base the rest of my weekend around. Much like when I tossed it off for the best part of a year and every day was based around Popmaster at 10.30 and then I just went from there.

Wife's birthday tomorrow. Off out for a curry in t'evening, but nothing planned during day - aside from park run and Jiu Jitsu. I've already said if nothing is planned I'll watch the Leeds game, this was not met with a punch in the face, so it might still happen. It was our wedding anniversary today, so that's been nice, not being at work etc.

Sunday. Not sure.
