Few cans and a movie tonight - if she can choose one, work tomorrow, hope to get out on the bike Sunday. Will be watching football, rereading In Patagonia and struggling with the guitar in-between.

Just had a few beers and summat to eat with my mate who lost his daughter 4 years ago today. Lovely to see him and his family but the sadness is still heavy.

Meanwhile, my daughter turns ten at the weekend and is having a climbing wall party on Sunday because she loves that kind of thing.

Makes you think. It's a selfish thing to say but I hope I never encounter anything as sad as what happened for the rest of my life.

Harvest He's doing OK mate. He's been with a lass since last summer who is really good for him. I think he's not far from doing as best as he can which is a testament to the remarkable person he is.

Took the lad to nets tonight. He caught one in the chest. There'll be a cracking bruise there tomorrow.
Eldest is on a coach to Cheltenham for the National Brass Band Championships at 7.45 in the morning. Just me and the glory hunter at The Shay for Ebbsfleet at home. A few of his pals are going. The Supporters Club are sponsoring the match and have made the club open up the banqueting and hospitality bit after the game for everyone. Free of charge. Players and management team will be there for photos and a chat. Great idea.
Have to get the eldest from the band room at 1am so no booze.
Sunday dinner at the golf club over the road. Pal of mine is the greenkeeper (his lad is one of our Jim's best mates, go to Town a lot). He's organised a big table for a few families (the kids are all pals). We did it last month and it was spot on. Not in work until 3pm on Monday and the clubhouse is literally over the road. I may have a couple.
