Are you Dave Bishop in disguise?

Welcome to OMJ Old Bill.Try not to take it personally. My profession gets a fair bit of stick here as well.I stick by what i say though. I live in a rural area where the clear up rate for crime is very low. We have one policewoman who covers 400 sq miles on a part time basis. You only ever see the police after a crime has taken place. Prevention is left up to the individual. At night the nearest manned station is 15 miles away.I know one of the local bobbies quite well. He admits he moved here from Manchester for an easy life. No guns, no drugs, no knives, no danger.

Noi thought Dave Bishop was one of these mythical creatures like Susie Greene, The Monk or Neck. Does he really exist?

HD's got the crux. As humans we will associate bad societal and "official" (particularly those which revolve around the law) experiences with those public servants who enforce the rules and regulations. Once you put on a uniform you immediately represent the state and all that's wrong with it. OB, you should tell us some tales of the corrupt canteen culture you've come across.

South Wales Police.Jesus.I can't think of a major case the haven't fucked up! (Lynette White, the Tooze Murders, Clydach. It's really worrying like). It is a strange one being a copper.why like?Like wanting to be a referee? Just fuckin' why? What would make you want to?Anyway, you Father-in-law Old Billthree days before? Why would he do that? After being out for a year? He'd have known for weeks that the NUM were in talks to go back together?I dont understand that decision?Sounds suspicious to me.

It's difficult to be objective over emotive issues like these. Our experiences tend to cloud our judgement, an example would be Mick's recent experiences with the Police, I'm sure any scrap of admiration he had for the work the Police do was wiped out on the morning of the SAS style intrusion on his family life, the way there had been no planning in regards to the fact that children may be present at the address, sticks out as being an abhorrent act on their part and they should collectively hold their heads in shame. I myself have seen both sides of the coin after being involved in an accident near Stirling, the local Police were both professional and courteous in their work, not a single shred of attitude displayed towards me. On returning to Stafford, I'd been asked to produce my documents locally and had been sent a copy of the Companies Insurance Policy by my employers, this was not satisfactory at all to the ageing, grumpy officer that was on desk duty that night(reminded me of Alf Ventress off of Heartbeat, only not as pleasant, just waiting for his retirement to roll up), he decided a caution would be an appropriate solution to the problem, ignoring the fact that my deadline for presenting was the next day. I eventually tracked down an original copy the next day from a colleague who'd had one for driving while on holiday abroad, what did impress me though was the call I got from the attending officer in Scotland who had been dealing with the case, he'd actually taken time out to contact Stafford Police by telephone and letter to reprimand the Officer on desk duty that night, something he didn't need to do but which impressed me greatly.
