Mind you I think I'd be pretty ambivalent if I was a serving police officer these days, considering the people they do catch tend to get a slap on the wrist by the old fogey in the wig and told in no uncertain terms what a bad bunch of boys they've been and not to do it again.

Yes, Ok, Quite naive of me to expect anything else than the reaction I received. No point in taking it any further.Quite a lot of vitriol on display but then again thats easy sat somewhere in isolation typing away at a keyboard.More awkward face to face, which I have to say is unlikely.
Glamorous_Hooligan
What do you mean by your closing remark OB? Can't vouch for anyone else, but I'd certainly say everything I've said to your face. You're always going to get vitriol over such an emotive subject.
Rudi
Same here. I wish I didn't feel the way I do about the police, but they have made my blood boil (and run cold) on too many occasions. Nothing personal old chap.

Does anyone on here know how to fit a car stereo?

Vitriol? What vitriol?"Upon entering the message board your honour I was subjected to a savage barrage of vitriol by the defendants before you" "This led to emotional problems and I was off sick for 16 months on full pay and had to endure three retiring ex-colleagues benefit golf days in Spain"Is the first question on the police application form 'Do you have a vivid imagination?'

What was it that inspired you to join the state police OB?I met one in Polzeath who'd joined so he could ride big BMWs and speed within the law, WANKER.I met another one last May who decided to nick me for stating the fact that he was a fucking prick, unfortunately it cost me £80 for stating the obvious, WANKER. ( See above for Hoofins point of order).I got a note one day asking me to attend Wrexham police station regarding an assault that the filth were investigating, I turned up an hour before my afternoon shift and was promptly arrested.Missed my shift and had to get witnesses who were consequently bullied in every intervew to verify my innocence as I was quite obviously fucking innocent. Waiting to be exonnerated of any wrong doing and the treatment of the people who vouched for me was handled not only in a heavy handed manner but in a manner that presumed me guilty.Fucking wrong behaviour my old Bill son.Did I get compensated for my missed shift or get an apology for wrongful arrest?Take a guess Einsteinn.I know a couple of heddlu from Wales away games and have to admitt that in a social setting they're sound as fuck.I don't know you but I wouldn't have any problem whatsover explaining to you why I think you fucked up joining the established dogs of war that are designed to subjugate.PM me and I'll meet you before the Farsley game next season.

Ive only just read this thread. Thanks for asking what a vitriol is Molasses. I havn't a clue and am too ashamed to ask.I have had mixed experiences with the police. In the past they have been rude and patronizing to me, obviously getting off on the power thing. Having said that, I can't imagine I was a joy to speak to either. Then a few years ago I was the victim of a crime and the department that dealt with me were fantastic. To this day, I am so gratefull for their professionalism and compasion.Having said that, some flasher exposed himself to my daughter last year and it took them 2 weeks to respond to the call, due to really bad communication and incompetence. They soon started jumping around once the local paper was asking them for a comment. However by the time they did address it, it was so long after the event, there weren't much they could do.You get good and bad in all professions. You will get individuals who enter that profession for the right reason but unfortunately you also some who dont.

SGR: Think Mol was asking "What vitriol?" Rather than "What is vitriol?"

Yeh but OB the point I was making with the X-Box is that for whatever reason PR/placating us seems to have taken over from crime detection which was when you said I talked shite, so I was adding to that specific debate. The X-Box is a result on a plate that they ignored but they spent ages drinking coffee in our kitchen.I'm not anti police, Mrs. Mick used to respect them but now hates them (after SIM card thing) and I keep telling her to get a bit of perspective. It's been well chronicled and argued over on here that my eldest wants to join and I won't disuade him. I believe his motivation is to help people, he grew up - before he came to live with me - in red-neck central and has a strongly defined idea of right and wrong, although I think the 'buzz' may be in there as well as he wants to do weekend Leeds centre nights.
