Travis_Bickle white_dragon One of those people will tell you that you shouldn't like, 'clever' not to like it, it's Gervais etc. I loved it. Maybe part of that was losing Dad in January but it hits the spot about grief and so many other very raw emotions. Crying and smiling in the same episode is a victory for a writer.

Cooley I just don’t get the negative reviews for After Life. I think it’s ace. The only reason I can think of is that they’re doing what they’ve recently done to Morrissey: they are reviewing the person, not the product. Well fuck ‘em. Keep upsetting people, RG, keep telling the truth.
space Cooley There is some truth in this. I admit that the reason I don;t watch it is that Gervaise totally gets up my nose. He sets my teeth on edge. l.q.navarro. Thought it was good, very funny in parts + very touching, particularly the use of music. Luther Vandross song at the end of one episode, had me sniffling. One minus point is the Psychiatrist. Horrible cunt + absurdly over the top character.

Mike_Jones Anything by Ken Burns (not the great British one, the great US documentary bloke). Currently watching Jazz, the history from its slave roots. His Vietnam War, Dust Bowl, National Parks are all great. Civil War as well.
Jon Mike_Jones Yes. I will watch anything he's done. I had the Lewis And Clark one on VHS. I loved it. Watched the Roosevelts one the other Sunday, PBS marathon. Bloke who does the narrating has a great voice, and name, Peter Coyote. The Country and Western one is fantastic. Another really great documentary you can find on You Tube is Eyes On The Prize.
Cooley I binged the entire second season of AFTER LIFE last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m not sure it was as good as series one, but it’s still one of the best things around. Unlike some, I thought Paul Kaye as the therapist was hilarious. The acting’s really good and there’s no doubt RG is a clever fucker. However, there were a few bits which didn’t quite work. Excessive use of the C word - it’s lost it’s shock effect. Some scenes were trying too hard for laughs eg Victor Meldrew’s missus. And it’s about time the self-pitying came to an end. If he makes a s.3 it needs to be a bit more upbeat. Cooley gives AFTER LIFE 8.5 out of 10.👍
EEPW Cooley agreed it was incredibly tough watching for me as lost my mum a week ago in a care home and funeral is next week. But amazing writing and acting. 9 / 10 from me , a must watch. Surely cant drag it out to 3rd. It would be like for fucks sake get over it!
Mitaman Cooley Yes, I finished it this week, very good overall. He doesn't often (if at all?) run to three series in anything, so I suspect he will leave that one there. As you say, only so much self-pity to throw around.
