Flaneur 🤣 A number of key factors really. The bit about meat being linked to inflammatory illness was a big one. I've got bursitis in my hips which can be very painful. Also my mum was crippled with arthritis and I feel a sense of inevitability about it coming my way at some point. I'm 50 next year and if a plant based diet can help stave it off as long as possible I want to try it.
The links with cancer I already knew to an extent. My Dad died of bowel cancer at 62 and he was a big meat eater. I feel I need to be around as long as I can for my kids. Another thing was the bit about protein from animals not being as effective nutritionally as plant based proteins. I'm either in the gym or swimming 4 times a week with at least one long(ish) walk/hike on a weekend. I had always assumed the converse in relation to protein and ate a lot of free range chicken from my local butchers (Fri, Sat and Sundays) under the assumption that it helped keep me going with all the exercise. The bit about animals just being the 'middle men' for protein was a bit of a revelation to me to be honest.
And of course, effective plumbing in your cock is bound to paint a vegetarian diet in a favourable light isn't it?
The bits about the environment and cruelty to animals all factored too but I already knew about them which demonstrates I'm a selfish cunt as it required the factors that impact on me more directly to finally push me in this direction. You'll be pleased to know that I haven't killed any slugs recently though. I thought of you the next time I found one in the kitchen and just hoyed it into the back alley. I do that every time now and weirdly there doesn't seem to be as many of them exploring my kitchen worktops. Its almost like that have saluted me like the Zulus at Rorkes Drift and decided to leave me alone. Slugs are people too!! thumbs up.
