I admit to reading Dune when I was about 14, but never read any Asimov at all and not a sci-fi reader now. But I don’t mind a bit of full-on sci-fi on screen.
I went to see Dune because I liked the Blade Runner sequel and I hadn’t been to the flicks since the pandemic took hold, and wanted a bit of a diversion with a blockbuster. 8:30am showing before heading into work, which perhaps explains why i was caught so off-guard with the ending.
Don’t know why I stuck with Foundation. Maybe because the production design and effects were top notch. I probably spent as much time messing with my phone or iPad as paying it full attention, though.
