Finally got around to After Life 3.
Loved 1 & 2. Thought it was ace, and I’m very much an admirer of Gervais, particularly his Globe performances.
I’d read that s.3 reviews were very unfavourable, but assumed this was due to the their dislike of RG himself, as opposed to the programme itself. Pre-conceived ideas and all that.
Enough waffle. I’ll get straight to the point. I don’t recall ever seeing something so promising sink so fast. Contrived, saccharine, excruciating. I didn’t laugh once. How many times do we to see a) old footage of his bird, b) unnecessarily crude humour and b) use of the word ‘cunt’?
After Life 3 was more an after-thought.
