I remember a colleague at work saying she used to throw bricks at the Army trucks back in 70s Belfast with her chums..She then recalled how this only seemed to happen in the summer and never when it rained.
I chuckled at the TV recently when someone from Derry said exactly the same.

I am always amazed that at every single one of these events, they always manage to get the money shot of a police car (a bus in the case of Harehills) on fire. It’s if they’re just left there on purpose for people to torch. If I were a Chief Constable, I’d be saying “any of you leaves another patrol car to get written off, it’s coming out of your fucking pay”.

I went early of one of the first EDL things in Piccadilly. To see how it went. Might be 15 years ago.
The AFL countered it.
I had the ability to go on both sides and did so.
Despite all their non racist rhetoric, they were just as basic and disappointing as I feared.
And they were lowest common denominator dressers.

I genuinely think we're at the start of what will be a protracted period of unrest. We're seeing massive demographic shifts. And cultural shifts. What Britain looks like is changing. Most people cope with that. Our history is a story of change. But the speed of the change has been unprecedented. And it's causing tension and anger and fear with those who can't cope. For some of them, those emotions are born of nothing more than ignorance and prejudice. But it's not like that for everyone. How we manage that change will determine how quickly we move forward together.

Travis_Bickle Some people would argue that the process of such monumental social change starts with a full & frank discussion, and an explicit mandate from the country and that hasn’t been happened. It’s not been sought nor given.

I think the current unrest and related issues stem from the fact that there’s a general and growing feeling from sections of the populous of being lied to. 🤷

AFA were very prominent in London in the late 90s and still are today I believe.
A good old friend of mine was heavily involved, dating back to the Poll Tax Riots ... and was strangely enough Milwall.
