Predictions 2019 - 2020 season.

Can't see us finishing in the top two, in all honesty, without a proven, regular goal scorer. Central defence, also, worries me...........a lot.
With the above in mind, I'm going 5th.

Roofe hardly plays due to a phantom injury only amazingly gets loaned out to a fellow Championship team and helps them on to promotion with a stack of goals

Seriously though, and as already alluded to, we screwed up last January by not getting someone who could reliably put the ball into the net and adapting to route one football. Sheff Utd did it and look where it got them. We continued to play some really good football that actually would keep us safe in the top flight but it is another ball game getting there. We will do it again this year but with possibly a slightly weakened defence and noone who can reliably score (and I wish Bamford would) we are going to concede more without being able to score more.

Oh and to play 4-1-4-1 we need the striker to get 25+ goals!!!

Injuries will mean rejiggering parts of the team throughout the season but we'll march on in style, up there or thereabouts at Kissmearse. We'll sign a superb player in January who will contribute significantly to us winning the Championship and ascend to the shitshow that is the Premiership.

Mike_Jones It’s Bielsa’s way, small squad with everyone involved and committed, fighting for each other, siege mentality. Hence Pontus jettisoned. Similar mindset to Ferguson. The kids are looking great and will be more involved, Bogusz, Leif Garrett, Oduor, Shack, that lad who’s 16 and looks 42, maybe Struijk. etc. Only thing I’m worried about is CB, would be madness to put Phillips there when he brings so much as DM. Anyway, whatever Bielsa does is fine by me, what the fuck do I know?!

I don't like to blow my own trumpet (oo-er etc.) but for once in my life I was spot on. I am Nosferatu. Except for the "We’ll sign a superb player in January who will contribute significantly", still think Stan could've been good for us if he wasn't a couple of stone overweight.

Not confident to be honest. Bielsa said himself that he would not be able to do the same again with the same players. Given that I trust his judgment, I think 2nd is still too far away.

I've got a lot of hope for the Corberan lads and my ideal scenario would, and could be this:

Bielsa performs more miracles, leans his lesson about tired legs and length of season and bolsters the squad with Corberan lads. Bamford nerves disappear after a brace against Bristol Tits and he gets 27.

The youngsters perform brilliantly, pace and guile all over the show and we win the league.

Bielsa says he will stay for one more year on condition that Corberan has his contract extended and all the lads get long term deals. Corberan takes over in 21/22 season. We erect a Bielsa statue.

I’m totally baffled by the lack of incoming transfers. The two things people worried about when Bielsa arrived were him quitting at the drop of a hat and a small squad been able to last a long Championship season.
We were found wanting in our lack of quality in depth last season. Yet it appears we’re going again with a squad of similar size. I’m not sure how you can expect the result to be better or even equal given everyone’s had a full season to figure us out.
Can’t wait for it all to start mind.

Jon That's what was worrying me too. The injuries worried me too. But then loads of posters made reference to the young guns coming thru. The first six games will tell. I believe that MB has the grail ready or the lamp or something.

Think Warnock will shithouse this league with Cardiff this season with us ending up in play offs again. Hope i'm wrong though think Bielsa deserves a promotion with what he's done with a very average squad.

Last season was memorable for so many seasons, it felt like a one off. It'll go one of two ways - automatic promotion or 12th, no middle ground. Would love to see us put faith in the younger lot coming through, not so bothered about transfers other than an old twilight of career no nonsense stopper, but that's not Bielsa’s way.

I think BPF is a great keeper. He had a couple of shaky games before being dropped but all keepers do. I'd have him as first choice.
