Placid EEPW Me and the missus were doing a bit of tree clearing at the bottom of our land that backs onto a little used dirt track. a guy walks by with 2 dogs and says hello in bulgarian. I reply with hello in English. He immediately stops and says English? yes i say. We got chatting a little and he starts to give the missus tips on tending the garden, compost and tree felling. then the conversation turns to football and he asks me who i support. Leeds i say. He gives the Leeds salute and im taken aback. Then the story takes an unexpected twist as i ask him how long he has supported Leeds. Oh im not a Leeds supporter im CSKA Sofia. But i know you are playing Millwall this week. Surprised that he knows this, i invite him for a beer but he declines and instead says he will have a coffee as drink makes him do “bad things” he goes on to tell a few tales about his trips to England in the 80s and 90s with the Bulgarian ultras to Leeds Millwall games amongst others. Seems he was the head of the Bulgarian Ultras and they used to come over for the fighting, didn’t really care on which side.. but hes left all that “violence drugs and drinking” behind. Then i start to notice some of The questionable tattoos that he had covered up beforehand. Now i’m certain hes not a buddhist monk (although cant be rules out) but at this point i start to feel a little uncomfortable as he starts to tell me that he spent most of the last 20 years behind bars in a high security jail but hes now found nature and left all that nonsense behind. We make our excuses and he goes on his merry way dogs in tow. Now im sure hes a decent bloke these days but not sure i want to befriend an ex Nazi Bulgarian Ultra. Gave us some great gardening tips though. Ha ha ace. Make sure you keep on right side of him. Sounds mental
