As the bus pulls up outside the town hall the crowd spontaneously burst into a rousing chorus of Marching On Together but it’s a verse we’ve not heard before.
“…we’re gonna see you balance the books for another season, we are so proud we shouted our loud no red ink, ink, ink!”
And isn’t that what football’s all about at the end of the day?
It was bitter sweet watching Milner do so well, at best.
I enjoyed watching Kalvin give the club one more season, get prompted with them, establish himself as a premier league player, make his international debut and become an integral part of the England side but I didn’t enjoy watching him or Raphinia for that matter, leave. Good bit of business though.
My attachment to the club is purely emotional.
If you’re into a good bit of business maybe get yourself a couple of shares of Amazon and get your arse along to the AGM, fuck The Athletic off and subscribe to The Financial Times, cancel Sky and sign up for Bloomberg.
When people complain that kids don’t follow their local team anymore it’s partly because kids don’t give a fuck about winning the good bit of business cup.
