As I walked the dog earlier I came up with a true Roy of the Rovers story.
It's February 2023. Leeds are languishing in the lower mid table of the Championship with the hope of the play offs practically impossible given the wretched run of form since Christmas that has seen 1 win and 1 draw and knocked out of the FA Cup by non league York City.
The final whistle goes on yet another dismal performance, a mid week 1-0 defeat to Luton Town. the players trudge off, the rain and sleet beating down on them. The 25,000 crowd are booing and then they start singing 'there's only one Bielsa'.
Radz shakes the hand of the Luton chairman and goes into the boardroom, shutting and locking the door behind him. He reaches for his phone and dials. The person picks up. Hi Marcelo, it's Radz. Look I want to apologise. I was wrong'. There is a deafening silence then Bielsa speaks 'I will see you at Thorpe Arch on Friday'. 'Oh and I will need Tyler back from, his loan at Macclesfield'.
Saturday comes and the famous bucket is placed at the side of the pitch at Ewood Park. Blackburn are run away leaders after narrowly missing out on promotion the year before. We win 3-0. A brace from Bamford to double his tally for the season.
We don't lose for the rest of the season, scraping the final play off place. Sadly we lose to Wayne Rooneys Derby County in the 2nd leg of the play offs but...
