The Bielsa transfer debate. The fact old names IE, Lang, O'Brien and Adams are resurfacing with Bielsa out of the door suggests targets were identified by Orta as you would expect.

It's easy to see how Orta could ultimately have got pissed off with Bielsa when he didn't rate many of them good enough to get them over the line.

Orta was probably motivated to bring a pliable coach in to let him assert his authority over finalised transfers.

Foxy_Dread To be fair the only one of those identified as a confirmed target is Obrien, Who was sanctioned by Bielsa. The others are just clickbait. I do agree that i think Bielsa held us back in only signing players that he deemed were "Bielsaball" players which would have given Orta very little choice. but also Im not sure that ANY manager would be happy with a DOF signing players without his sign off? would be very weird indeed? (u 23s possibly)

Foxy_Dread Not to replace, but I’d swap him for Rodrigo 😉. As you say, his wages alone would be prohibitive. I do believe theres a good player lurking under there, just not convinced he believes it any more.

You”d like to think Joffy will feature more next season.
Bamford’ has always had his injury problems and you feel we can’t go into another season hoping he stays fit and consequently being reliant on one main striker.
Rashford would be ideal but costly and probably come in as our prime striker.
I’d guess we’re more likely to go down the route of a cheaper option and bring in someone like Che Adams to supplement Bamford and Gelhardt.

Foxy_Dread Exactly. I'm sure I read it at one time he would be the biggest transfer in football if he left the scum, so he's never going to come to us. The lad from Blackburn I think is an option and in our price range. I also think there are still some bargains out there still in Europe, but that's Orta's job to find them, and we all know how that pans out most of the time.

Raposa I don't know, the one up front thing nowadays means the type of forwards I have traditionally liked aren't really right for the job.

The Blackburn lad seems to score quite a few around the six yard box, he could be worth a look if his all round game is decent.

My main concern would be to devise a system that suits Gelhardt, and if you aren't going to do that sell him.

Gelhardt would be a 20 goal a season player if you work him into the team.

Mitaman will there even be a Rodrigo role this season? I don't know what this formation is meant to look like.

I would hope that the middle pair in the 4222 aren't light weight converted attackers/wide men, surely they should be proper midfield players who make meaningful contributions at both ends of the pitch. O'Brien at Huddersfield looks made for the job.
