Just finished this. I just got the Turners after a visit to the Tate before Xmas. Hell of a life.

Also finished one on the Foreign Legion by an English bloke who went in them in the 60s. Fuck that. Tough as fuck.

Now on a monster book about Napoleon

He still lived local in my time there, a very liked and respected person. Part of the Oregon Country Fairy and the Merry Pranksters on the Furthr bus, from Electric Cool Aid Acid Test.

There's a tour you can do if the Salem wards of the hospital in which it was based and filmed.

Read this. Didn't snap my synapses at all. Few funny bits from Boyle as you'd expect but largely confusing. Then a chapter toward the end that was remarkable. Full of love, warmth and pathos. I really hope he writes another book and employs these skills.

The Confidential Agent by Graham Greene. My 7th by him. He wrote this in the mornings while writing The Power and the Glory in the evenings. He was taking speed in the mornings and coming down in the evenings. Trying to provide as much as he could for his family with the threat of war on the horizon. He said he never took speed again after the 6 weeks it took it him to write this and it contributed to the break up of his marriage. I struggled to get into it early on. Couldn't understand what the fuck was going on and kept falling asleep after a few pages ironically. I'm enjoying it now though, into the final quarter and it's getting really good.

I just read this holiday novel. Been struggling so something to wash over me. Made me laugh in parts also.

Easily a film with Aniston in there.

Book group. Not that hilarious really, although this is based on a stand up show he’s not as funny as he thinks he is. Still, fascinating to read about all the thousands of genres and sub-genres - thrash, death, nu, black, grindcore, brutal death metal etc etc - and to read that Discharge were hugely influential.
