What Book Are You Reading Now?

The Rooster Bar , John Grisham . Christmas present . Read quite a few Grisham books . Half way through, a bit slow so far . Think others I've read , speed up towards the end .

Some cross over. The Bridge though is ace and surely where Welsh picked up on Stork Nightmare.

One day I was driving back from where I was working and the radio announced that Iain Banks had died. I'd only ever read The Wasp Factory and the one about the retried rock star. They were talking about him on the radio, his switching between genres etc. As I parked up outside the house, my next door neighbour came out and asked me if I wanted some books? She was moving out that weekend and getting rid of stuff. I said yeah, great, what are they? They were all stacked up in the hallway. Every book Iain Banks had ever written, all the different pseudonyms etc. Really odd. I asked her if she knew he'd died that day. She had no clue, didn't even know who he was. The books had belonged to her late husband. I've still got them all in my shed.

I lent the Wasp Factory to a girl called Melanie Wells and never got it back. Not thought about her in years and years.

Kevin_Stapleton This is brilliant. Book of the year so far. Ageing Irish gangsters banter and reminisce in a Spanish ferry port. It's one of those where it's a joy to read. Fantastic writing.

Cracking little story. Only a few pages to go, but I really want to know how it ends. 9 out of 10:

That Viv Albertine book - highly recommended, deals with the death of her mother and everything that entails , brilliant back story and really well written , no holds barred, warts and all, blah blah blah. Was up reading it till 5am this morning finishing it and then back working at 8am. Its just a really really good read.. Picked it up in Fopp so should be available for less than the price of a pint - you won't be disappointed .

Now embarking on an 800 pages + biography of Stalin.
