Kevin_Stapleton This is brilliant. Book of the year so far. Ageing Irish gangsters banter and reminisce in a Spanish ferry port. It's one of those where it's a joy to read. Fantastic writing.

Unless he fucks it up at the end it's going to be 5 hashish bales out of 5

Pushed everything aside. I’ve been waiting for this book for a few years now. I never really buy hardbacks but I’ll make an exception in this case. Now do I draw a bubble bath and read til I’m weak or a quick shower and read on the sofa?

Just about to start Hellfire, The Jerry Lee Lewis Story. Other than what I imagine most of us know about him, happy to be corrected, I know very little of his life. Some of the live YouTube clips are pretty bonkers. This book, written in 1982 is meant to be something of a classic but who knows. I had a few quid for my birthday and saw it recommended somewhere so gave it a whirl.

I feel that way about a lot of books. It's almost like they run out of ideas at times. Mind you I'm not big on all ends tied Agatha Christie endings

CBIT I do. It was about 3:30 in the afternoon when I wrote that. Heat was a good book. Among The Thugs I read ages ago and didn’t put the two together for a long time.
There’s been a few magazine articles about his time in France and he’s tweeted about it for a while. So far so very good.
