white_dragon CBIT Read all the others,up to and including Whirlwind, but never read Shogun, for some reason.
CBIT Bod in terms of a timeline this is the first then Tai-Pan, Gai-Jin, King Rat, Noble House and finally Whirlwind - but the order he wrote them is somewhat different (King Rat, Tai-Pan, Shogun, Noble House, Whirlwind and finally Gai-Jin)
Kevin_Stapleton Prophet - Helen Macdonald and Sin Blaché. Present day sci-fi with a strong Jeff Vandermeer vibe, if that's your thing. It's good.
AndreWeimaraner Finally got round to reading ‘Revolutionary Spirit’ by Paul Simpson, as recommended on here and to me elsewhere. Cracking read, but no wonder his band fucked him off to join Pete Coyle in The Lotus Eaters. Pretentious and totally deluded. He might even admit that in a rare moment of self-deprecation, although I doubt it.
AndreWeimaraner Odd_Job Isn’t it ‘Wild Houses’? Any good? Had it on my ‘maybe’ list since it came out, but never got around to getting it.
Odd_Job AndreWeimaraner yes it is. Would love to be able to attribute it to predictive text rather than me not paying attention…
Odd_Job AndreWeimaraner really enjoyed it. I rattled through it in a couple of days which is a measure of how good it is.
90Piesanhour I like Spanish/Hispanic writers. The style and content is very different, sometimes surreal, but always interesting. It also helps to brush up my Spanish and might help to slow down dementia.
Anchor Just read this. It was brilliant. One of the best books I've ever read. So relatable in so many ways then the lens of Northern Ireland from the troubles, the effect on those people after the troubles and the effect on subsequent generations living in it's shadow. Very Welshesque with a line pretty much ripped from Trainspotting. Was this recommended on here? @Kevin_Stapleton perhaps?
