Enjoying this, memoir of a student in the early 1970s who becomes a trainee lighthouse keeper on the west coast of Scotland. He’s a bit of an idealist, bit of a dude (listens to the Velvets and Beefheart), finds himself cooped up with men from an older generation who fought in the war, etc. Has a real gentle charm.
