Under-the-ground fulmine just finished this. I loved it very good. What a generation they were from ww2. The human element was great . Young man now an old man reflecting on discussions with old men
fulmine Under-the-ground So true. Every so often I catch a glimpse of it on the shelf, reminding me not to be a dick…
Bod Now You See Me, Sharon Bolton, crime thriller about a copycat Jack the Ripper murderer in London, very good
doggybag "Anger is an Energy" by John Lydon. Bit like Kerouac, stream of thought, but not as good well written. Stonking rags to riches story tho.
Anchor Rudi Looks good - not heard of him. Would you care to recomend another from his back catalogue?
Rudi Anchor Hawthorn & Child, which I must have re-read about 20 times and an early novel called Animals. The other stuff is good, but those two are were he really hit his stride. He writes about mental illness and states of mental distress better than anyone I've ever encountered.
Anchor Rudi halfway through Hawthorn and Child - Read 150+ pages in a matter of days and I am a slow reader. I have no real idea what is going on but I want to read it all the time. It is remarkable. Just bought Animals.
Travis_Bickle Anyone else read any Philip Hensher? Enjoyed The Northern Clemency and King of the Badgers.
Rudi New Willy Vlautin - "The Night Always Comes" Always a pleasure to be re-acquainted with his world.
Anchor Rudi I struggled with Vlautin - I think it was the prevalance of horse racing which I think is shit. Thats just me though - obvs.
