Just finished into the valley by Richard Jobson.
Basically about his time in the Skids. Really easy read & I enjoyed it.
I like what he stands for. The last chapter about writing into the valley on his own at 16 in the library really resonated. Basically through books & art, belief & discipline you can change your circumstances & life. Don’t stray off the path

Geek Love, by Katherine Dunne. Great twisted book about a traveling freak show, very well done.

Had an urge to revisit memorable books I've read many years ago. Next up The Wasp Factory.

I re read The Wasp Factory two years ago after reading it a year or so after release. I'd forgotten lots but second time I was no way near as rapt as first. I might re read The Bridge. I fucking loved that book. See how that stands up.

Bog: Good Pop Bad Pop - Jarvis Cocker
Bed: What's She Like - Helen O'Hara. This is a great read, especially if you like your Dexys, but she writes well about music generally

Just finished the singer by Patrick Duff who sang in Strangelove a band who hit the big time but didn’t . The 2nd album is very good.

Anyway this was brilliant. The most honest biography since Steve Jones from the Pistols. Thankfully not quite as harrowing but not far off. How can people push themselves like that. Wonder he isn’t in a loony bin. Really recommend this.

Anchor Yes, it is fiction. As I'm reading I just keep thinking about what kind of mind has these thoughts, and makes a story about it that you want to follow.

Will read Wasp Factory, probably go through his others if it's half as good as I remember.

Just finished Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier, not nearly as sad as I was expecting. It was alright.

Just finished “Hungry Beat” by Douglas Macintyre, Grant McPhee with Neil Cooper. Decent and interesting read. Had it been 100-125 pages shorter, it wouldn’t have diminished it and would have made it less repetitive.

l.q.navarro. About half way through this - first 50 pages were hard. turgid - then the tension ramps up a notch! My god. He deals with the 'incident' well I thought.

Odd_Job Thanks. I’ll order a copy. I think he’s an interesting bloke. He’s never really had commercial success ( even when You’ve Got The Power sold well those sales were discounted as they were so regional they were judged to be questionable, McEwans beer add in Scotland, I think) but he’s managed to find a way to keep going, to avoid having to enter the real world as far as I’m aware.
He’s made some totally unlistenable shite (opinion) and some absolutely beautiful pop songs too. Think he once made a single copy of an album then auctioned it off ( on eBay).

Just finished passage to india em forster .

Very good. Really paints a picture of what a bollox the British raj was & the cunts involved.

Makes you wonder what it could have been. Still it has made our country more culturally diverse & interesting with different peoples.
One day I will travel India . I think it would be mind blowing but in a good way

Under-the-ground Reminded me I read this in 1994 or summat - before I went back to college to do my A levels - I remember enjoying it - which I didn't think I would.
