Young_Marxist_at_Tescos Any good that? Sounds like there's a lot of decadence in it.
Currently reading Elizabeth Gaskell's North and South. Enjoying it a lot. Went to her old house in Manchester last month. Fascinating place. Charles Dickens and Charlotte Bronte had been guests there. There was a photo of a young Beatrix Potter with William Gaskell and the family were also friends with Florence Nightingale and Charles Darwin apparently. Seems like all the Victorian Celebs were big mates.
Anyway, North and South is ace. There is a lot about the class divides of the time, the impact of industry and social conventions etc. Very well written. I do enjoy Victorian fiction.
